Curriculum
At St Joseph’s, we provide a broad, balanced, creative and ambitious curriculum, which ensures our children are prepared for the next stages of their education and lives.
Our curriculum provides our pupils with the essential core knowledge and skills as directed by the National Curriculum. We aim to provide a curriculum which is enriching and challenging, where children experience the opportunity to learn in a wide range of contexts.

A Liberal Arts Approach
Our pedagogical outlook is also influenced by ‘liberal arts’ curricula, which help children to encounter ‘the best that has been known and said’. Instead of topics being presented as competing specialisms, everything is linked by a historical epoch – ancient, medieval and modern – so that children learn by making connections. A firm grasp of Maths and English in the early years underpins a high degree of cultural literacy further up the school.
Curriculum update
Our 2025-6 curriculum review will bring some of the spirit of a liberal curriculum to the children at St Joseph’s, building on the school’s existing strong reputation for the arts.
Curriculum details for all Years will be available to download in September 2026
